The EICHLAIR Project (Engine with Internal Combustion Liquid Hydrogen for Aircraft & Industrial Resilient) is a truly transformative initiative for the hydrogen aerospace sector. It aligns with France's ambition to produce the first low-carbon aircraft by introducing a long-range decarbonized (zero CO2 emissions) aircraft.<\/strong>The project's development has brought together a consortium of three industry-leading companies: eHP\u00b2, Design Tech Centre, and I-SEE, with eHP\u00b2 leading the project.<\/p>\n

A true technological innovation, the hydrogen internal combustion engine and liquid hydrogen storage system will be directly integrated into the aircraft. The primary challenge of this solution is to demonstrate that this fully decarbonized propulsion system can be easily incorporated into a light aircraft without significant adaptations or operational modifications, all while ensuring complete safety (cryogenic liquid H2).<\/p>\n

Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Nicolino, President and Founder of eHP\u00b2, expressed his enthusiasm:<\/p>\n

eHP\u00b2, a company specializing in the engineering and manufacturing of innovative powertrains, focuses on designing and certifying solutions for B2B clients. Within the EICHLAIR project, I-SEE is responsible for manufacturing and operating the aircraft used for program testing. It is tasked with developing technical solutions and integration methods for the H2 powertrain and liquid hydrogen tank, ensuring they do not impact the operational fundamentals of the aircraft.<\/p>\n

Le projet EICHLAIR (Engine with Internal Combustion Liquid Hydrogen for Aircraft & Industrial Resilient) est un v\u00e9ritable projet structurant pour la fili\u00e8re hydrog\u00e8ne dans l\u2019a\u00e9ronautique et s\u2019inscrit dans la volont\u00e9 de la France de produire le premier avion bas-carbone en proposant un a\u00e9ronef d\u00e9carbon\u00e9 (z\u00e9ro \u00e9mission de CO2) \u00e0 long rayon d\u2019action. Le d\u00e9veloppement du projet a rassembl\u00e9 un consortium de trois entreprises, leaders dans leurs domaines, compos\u00e9 d\u2019eHP\u00b2, Design Tech Centre et I-SEE, et dont eHP\u00b2 est le chef de file. V\u00e9ritable innovation technologique, le moteur \u00e0 combustion interne \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne et le syst\u00e8me de stockage d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne liquide seront directement int\u00e9gr\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019a\u00e9ronef.
